You’ve already heard some of my story if you’ve seen My Writing & Marketing Journey. But there are some content gaps that need to be filled in about how I’ve created the content samples that you’ll read below and why they are the way that they are.
NOTE: if you’re simply looking to read my samples, feel free to skip below. That said, I’ve found most organic content portfolios to be lacking in context.
So. When you do read my samples below, you might think, “These are short-form, we want a long-form writer”. Or maybe “This is not the tone we want”. To that I say: not so fast — let’s do some contextualizing (one of my favorite things) before you read through my samples…
I Write With the Reader in Mind

The first thing we’ll contextualize is that these pieces were written with a certain target audience in mind.
I’ve created the below pages and blogs to be easy-to-understand and helpful for their intended target audience. Your target audience may be different, but that doesn’t mean I can’t write content for you. Au contraire! Accordingly, I encourage you to think of these samples like the kind you get at Costco…maybe they’re pretty good, but they’re not a replacement for buying the product.
What My Content Samples & Costco Samples Have in Common
Let’s think of content writing like a Costco sample meatball for a sec. You may have seen what I can do with that warmed-up frozen meatball in a tiny paper sample cup with a little Himalayan salt. Cool…or should I say Hot!…But I can take that same meatball home and jazz it up with homemade red sauce (I grew up on Longuyland after all). Or Asian sauce. Or 5-spice Labneh and honey. You feel me? I’m talking about tone. I can jazz it up or tone it down as needs require.
Let’s Talk Tone
I can (and do) adjust my tone often to create content to meet the needs of different clients and in different industries, from automotive, to professional services to SaaS, to foodservice & hospitality (one of my personal faves, in case you couldn’t tell).
- For content samples I wrote while employed by Dealer.com, a leading digital marketing agency that services mainly automotive dealerships, I was writing for car shoppers at various points in the purchase funnel, AKA buyer’s journey. Think about it: the content there is shorter form. If you’re researching a car, are you going to want to read a 500-page white paper? No. You want answers quickly, in plain language. For this reason, these pieces are short, perhaps dryer than what you might want (or perhaps not), and written at about a 6th to 8th grade reading level.
- For content samples I wrote while employed by Dealer Inspire, which happens to be a direct competitor of Dealer.com, the above also holds true.
- For content samples I have written while employed by NPAccel, the main audience varies widely. That’s because NPAccel, a digital marketing agency that services mostly small to medium sized businesses founded by marketing guru Neil Patel, hires clients in various verticals, from food and beverage to SaaS to retail and more! Thus, I’ve written for a wide range of buyer personas, in varying tones, to readers across multiple stages of the purchase funnel. And I can write for you!
I Write to Drive Traffic

I’ve created these pages and blogs to be SEO-optimized. (They’re not written in iambic pentameter for a reason. If you want content like that from me, you’ll have to challenge me to a duel first. 😉
Ten Key Elements of Effective SEO Content
What makes good SEO content? As Julia McCoy over at Search Engine Land notes in her piece “10 Elements of Good SEO Copy“…
- It has well-optimized metadata
- It’s written for people first and machines second
- It provides value
- It tells a story that resonates with the reader
- It incorporates attention-grabbing headlines
- It is NOT keyword-stuffy (that’s Black Hat SEO which is a no-no)
- It’s something you want to keep reading
- It features media or images (with alt text, I might add)
- It’s shareable
- It’s part of a larger SEO strategy and its performance is tracked against that strategy
While you may not be able to tell all of these things directly from reading static versions of my content samples, believe me when I say that they’ve all shaped the content that I’ve written!
While I’m well-versed in SEO writing, I can certainly apply the building blocks of good writing, including most notably, clarity and relatability, to produce any kind of writing product you need. I love being intellectually challenged, which is one of the reasons I became a professional copywriter and content specialist in the first place!
Case Studies
I love the creative aspect of writing. That’s why I do it.
I love the feeling of being able to help a client by providing them with content that meets their pain points and communicates what they want said in the most effective way possible.
But you might not want to hire me just because I love what I do.
You want to know that I can drive results. Here’s just one client success story (in the form of a case study).

* A few disclaimers — because you want a content writer who takes content attribution and intellectual property seriously!
– All content I’ve written for clients, whether that be in my capacity as a writer at Dealer.com, Dealer Inspire, or NPAccel, is now the intellectual property of the client for whom it was written.
– Web content — especially SEO content — is often updated/refreshed. Thus, I’ve chosen to include my content samples in screenshot format, so they remain accessible in perpetuity. Please excuse any minor formatting issues resulting from the plugin software used to convert real-time, dynamic webpages into static PDFs for your viewing pleasure 🙂
